The benefits of Massage Therapy can be both physical and psychological. Massage can help decrease pain, increase muscle flexibility and tissue health, in acute and chronic conditions. During and after treatment, both circulation and lymphatic flow are increased, which encourage excretion of waste products and inflammation. It has also been known to decrease stress hormones and help create an overall feeling of well being, and can encourage the body’s healing process.

Michael began his career in manual therapy in 2008 as a Registered Massage Therapist after graduating from the Massage Therapy Program at Medix College (now Anderson College). Michael then spent 8 years practicing as a RMT in a physiotherapy clinic, with a strong clinical focus on post orthopaedic surgery, WSIB and motor vehicle accident rehabilitation.
In 2011, Michael began his Osteopathic training at the Canadian College of Osteopathy in Toronto, Ontario (program now being offered at Sutherland-Chan). During his 5 years of osteopathic training, Michael gained an alternative perspective to anatomy and physiology and the associated inter-relationships that are not always considered in traditional forms of manual therapy. Upon completion of his classroom and clinical training, Michael conducted an osteopathic manual therapy study with a focus on woman’s health. Michael defended his thesis in 2019, obtaining a Diploma in the Science of Osteopathy and a Diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice.
Since graduating, Michael has continued his training, taking several post-graduate courses in post-concussion syndrome management, autonomic nervous system treatment, and advanced approaches to visceral manipulation and myofascial release.
Michael’s approach to treatment is evidence based and is specifically tailored to the individual client, focusing on “the person”, with an aim to identify the root causes of dysfunction rather than treating “the symptom”. Michael prides himself on providing client centred, compassionate care to all of his clients.
Michael is a member in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and the Ontario Association of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners.
